WELCOME TO WAYNE M. HENKLE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Home of the Grizzlies!

MISSION STATEMENT

At Henkle Middle School all students are encouraged to dream and inspired to succeed. We create a culture of safety by valuing diversity, nurturing positive relationships and providing a clear focus on social, emotional and academic success. Students are challenged and equipped with tools to meet rigorous standards. Our students are empowered to become life-long learners and respectful, responsible citizens.

Henkle Middle School serves students in grades seven and eight on a campus shared with Wallace and Priscilla Stevenson Intermediate School and adjacent to Columbia High School. The school’s well-rounded academic, artistic, and extra-curricular program helps all students develop to their fullest potential.

In addition to the “basics,” students also receive a strong program in the arts. Students may choose to have band or visual arts as electives. Some of the other electives for seventh and eighth graders include inventions, coding, academic games, computer tech, yearbook, and more.

Henkle Middle School offers various extra-curricular, leadership, and enrichment options. From organized sports to student government and informal lunchtime groups, activities at Henkle help students find interests, develop friendships, and progress with their individual skills. Sports include football, cross country, and volleyball in the fall, basketball, and wrestling in the winter, and girls' soccer and track in the spring. Students may also join ski club.
